Los Gatos Library

Los Gatos, CA

Nestled at the foot of a wooded hillside, this 30,000 sq ft, two-storey design is suggestive of “A Lantern in the Woods.” Realized as an open structure with volumes of glazing, the project optimizes natural daylight, with amply north glazing, a central light monitor over a monumental central stair, and veiled glazing on the south wall. Building projections for History and Teens collections emphasis transparency. At night the building takes on a soft, lantern-like glow.
